Cooked ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS application ("Cooked" or "the App") and related web services (cookedfocus.com) handle information when you use our focus locking and accountability service.
2. Information We Handle
Cooked utilizes Apple's Screen Time API (including the FamilyControls and ManagedSettings frameworks) to shield selected apps and categories during your active focus sessions. All application restriction tokens and screening selections are processed strictly on your local device. We do not track, log, or transmit your app usage history, visited URLs, or communication content to any external servers.
If you choose to use the in-app contact picker to select an accountability friend, access to your contacts is handled exclusively on your device via iOS system frameworks. We never copy, scrape, or upload your address book to our servers.
When you ask a friend to unlock your focus session, Cooked creates a cryptographic temporary session identifier to facilitate the web-based decision page. This data contains no personal identifiers (such as your name, email, or phone number) and expires automatically upon session completion.
All payment transactions and subscriptions are handled securely by Apple via StoreKit. Cooked does not collect, receive, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.
3. How We Use Information
Any data handled by Cooked is used solely to:
- Enforce app restrictions and timers selected by you during focus sessions.
- Facilitate the temporary accountability unlock flow between you and your trusted contact.
- Verify your subscription status via Apple's receipt validation APIs.
- Provide technical support when requested directly by you.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use third-party behavioral advertising trackers, data brokers, or surveillance SDKs. Data is only processed to the extent necessary to provide the core functionality of Cooked.
5. Data Retention & Security
Session unlock tokens are ephemeral and expire automatically once the session is completed or resolved. All communications between the App and our web endpoints utilize industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS) encryption.
6. Children's Privacy
Cooked does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
